How To Leverage Social Media In Your Business

With the help of the Internet, social media is now at its peak and through this it takes only a few ‘shares’ and ‘likes’ for a particular topic to become popular. But do you know you can also use social media for startup business help?

Social media plays a key role nowadays in terms of disseminating information not only to the public but to all netizens around the globe. Can you imagine the publicity your business would get once your company gets enough social media exposure? This is what experts call social media marketing.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is a form of Internet-based marketing that involves social media websites and platforms in order to achieve marketing goals. In this particular marketing technique, sharing content such as videos, images or written content is crucial in order to increase the brand awareness of your business or company.

There are a number of ways on how to use social media for the promotion of your business:

  • Content – The key to achieving success in social media marketing is realizing the fact that what you will be sharing through social media platforms should be something informative and not just fluff. The Internet already offers a vast amount of information so make sure your content is something that they will actually find interesting if not useful.

  • Develop Your Brand Image – In social media marketing, it is important that you maintain a consistent stand on what you are as a business and what you offer. A stable and strong branding will lure in customers because they see your company as an expert in that particular field or industry.

  • Linking – It helps from time to time that you provide links to your audience to informative resources even if that content did not come from you. It only means that you value your audience and want them to know more about a particular topic or issue that is related to your field of expertise.

Beginning Your Social Media Campaign

If you have decided that you need social media marketing in order to increase your business’ brand awareness and be seen as an expert in your field, you should first consider these questions:

What are my goals?

Before kicking off your social media campaign, you need to have a concrete plan on what you want to achieve. Do you only want more people to know that your business exists or do you want them to take action and consult you?

Who is your target audience?

Who will be your audience? If your business is about providing a particular service, then you have to pinpoint which individuals would want to avail your services. Then, you’ll have to make them realize through your content that they need you.

Do I have a time frame?

Social media marketing can be a very tiresome and repetitive task. Most of the time, you’ll need someone who has specialized in doing that particular work so you can focus on your business’ core competencies. However, it may require some time before you begin to reap the rewards. That is why you have to know how long you are going to use social media for marketing and to increase brand awareness.

Social Media Marketing Is Best For Startup Companies

Establishing a new business requires a lot of hard work especially on the promotion side. Before you go producing whatever it is you want to sell, you should first promote your business to actually get customers.

Fortunately, you won’t have to do it the old-fashioned way as social media marketing makes it easier for you to get an audience and gain Internet exposure through social media platforms. Just make sure that you plan the campaign thoroughly.  Get advice from people in the industry or work with an expert in the field for better results.

When first starting out, I recommend using only one platform so that you can get comfortable and get the mistakes out of the way early.  Choosing either Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or your own blog is a good start. Always use the 80/20 rule. 80% of your posts should be information given freely about your product, service, or industry and 20% of your posts should be about your brand and your business.
