The Powerful Symbolism of the Phoenix Rising

phoenix-500469_640The Phoenix Rising is a powerful ancient symbol of the sun that has great meaning for spiritual renewal, change, transformation, second chances, reemergence, rebirth and regeneration. The Phoenix is unique in that it is immortal and overcomes death in order to live again. Although birds with similar immortal powers are represented across multiple cultures, from Egypt to Japan, perhaps the most well-known legend is of the Arabian Phoenix, a mythical bird with vibrant red and gold feathers. The story goes as follows:

“Making its home near a cool well, the phoenix would appear at dawn every morning to sing a song so enchanting that even the god Apollo would stop to listen…As the end of its life approached, the Phoenix would build a pyre nest of aromatic branches and spices such as myrrh, sets it on fire, and is consumed in the flames. After three days the birth – or as some legends say a rebirth – the Phoenix arises from the ashes. (According to some sources, the Phoenix arose from the midst of the flames.)

A symbolic representation of the death and rebirth of the sun, the Phoenix is also described as being either eagle or heron like. It lives on dew, killing nothing and crushing nothing that it touches. Generally considered the king of birds, it has alternately been called the bird of the sun., [Source: Rise of the Phoenix]

The Phoenix has long been an inspirational symbol to me personally, as I’ve had to undergo both the pain and liberation of my own metaphorical rebirths as a result of changes in my relationships, lifestyle, identity, and purpose at various points along the journey.

So what does the Phoenix mean to you and how can you use it as a tool for healing?

Perhaps you’re metaphorically in the Phoenix’s nest right now, but it isn’t a comfortable nest, it’s where the bird goes in preparation for a huge change. Are you struggling in the flames of change? If so, one thing you can learn from the Phoenix is that you might in fact be on the precipice of an incredible life-changing transformation. That being said it’s hard to know that right now, because you’re in the painful phase of letting go of what no longer serves you, whether that be a marriage, a relationship, a home, a career, unhealthy habits, a life path or even an identity. The emotional pain feels terrible, of course it does, but if we look to the Phoenix, we can see that the flames and the heat are actually what we need in order to transform and rise up out of the ashes! The Phoenix, being the bird of the sun, also reminds us that with every sunset comes a new dawn and this cycle of death and rebirth in all of its various forms is a natural part of our growth and ultimately, our healing. This is why I chose the Phoenix rising as my logo – it’s a powerful symbol for the strength and transformation it takes for each of us to reach our greatest potential, my focal point as a life coach.

If you’ve already burned and struggled in the “Phoenix’s nest” and feel that you’re ready to rise again into your whole, beautiful, best self, I am here to guide you and support you. Renewal, rebirth and regeneration are the themes I focus on in my approach to life coaching. Together, we find ways to help you move forward, upwards, onwards, out of the ashes into the open air of endless possibilities! How do we do this? Through hard work, discipline, self-reflection, continuous self-improvement, and the passion to live a more fulfilling life than we have before now.

4 Ways To Make A Little Extra Money From Home

Office work is a tedious job and it often takes the most out of your time. Unfortunately, your income from this full-time employment may not even be enough for your monthly expenses and bills. If you think you aren’t getting anywhere with your savings, then you probably need to earn extra money on the side.

Because you already have a full-time job, the most practical way to earn extra money is from home. There are a number of ways to make a little extra money from home, but you better make sure you choose something that fits you.

Opportunities To Earn Extra Money On The Side

Employing some ways to make a little extra money from home will allow you to maximize your time. The experience in handling a small business or income-generating activity can even help you become capable of handling bigger responsibilities in the future. Some popular options include network marketing which is already a proven option if you have the discipline and determination to make it work.

Here are some opportunities you can use:

  1. Freelance Work – In the advent of the Internet, a lot of earning opportunities have emerged through online connections. One of these opportunities is freelancing. If you have a particular skill that is in-demand in the online marketing scheme such as graphic designing, writing, programming, and networking, you can be involved in freelance work.

What’s good about freelance work is that you can work anytime you want and you can choose which clients you want to work with. However, just like any startup business, you should learn how to value your clients by providing the best quality service you can give.

  1. Online Teaching – If you have a passion for teaching, have extra time at home, and have a bachelor or even a master’s degree, then online teaching may be the best earn-from-home opportunity. Online education courses are becoming more popular these days, and thus require more online teachers as well.

As an online instructor, you should not only be specialized in the subject you are about to teach. You should also be well-versed in using some computer software as well as applications. Practice typing fast and improve your listening skills.

  1. Blogging – If you are a skilled writer who can put your thoughts into words with ease, then you may succeed as a blogger. In this opportunity, you need to touch on interesting topics so you will gain more following from Internet users who find your content useful. You won’t earn money from writing per se, but through affiliate links you post on your blog.

Once your visitors click on these advertisements, or even make purchases, you will be given a commission for each. It will take some time, but once you become successful and a well-read blogger, you can get a couple of hundred dollars per month just by writing blogs and sharing your opinion.

  1. Network Marketing – If you are looking for ways to make a little extra money from home, then this could be the solution to your problems. The good thing about network marketing is that it won’t just provide ‘extra’ income, but an income that will become residual in the future.

First, you will need to find a good company where you will begin. It will take a lot of work from your part, and that includes most of your free time right after your full-time work. You need to attend trainings and seminars and study your products well so you’d be able to promote them more effectively. Once you have gained some down lines, your residual income will begin and you’ll enjoy all the fruits of your labor.

Startup Business Help – Think Of A Business That You Will Have Fun Doing

Do you feel that your current source of income as an employee will not take you anywhere near your goals and the life you dream of? Are you getting tired of just following policies without being able to choose what you want to do and what you want to accomplish? If these feelings are inside of you, then what are you willing to do to forge your own path to greatness. In order to achieve your goals and dreams, visualize of how your life would change if you were to become an entrepreneur.

What Is An Entrepreneur?

Entrepreneurs are what make the world go round in business. They are primarily the reason why there are goods and products in the market. In order to become an entrepreneur, you should first have something to offer, whether it is a particular product or a service.

What Should I Do To Be An Entrepreneur?

Entering entrepreneurship will be one of the hardest decisions you will ever make as an individual. If you consistently seek challenges and a way to improve and reinvent yourself, this is an ideal option for you to discover your inner potential. But first, you need to take a number of steps in order to have a solid foundation for your goals.

  • Think Of A Business That You Will Have Fun Doing – When considering the business that is right for you, do not gravitate towards something that you think will generate a lot of cash. The best business is the most ideal option for you given your passions and the resources that are currently available to you. You will be spending so much time building your business that the only way to find true success is to make sure that you enjoy building it.
  • Make A Business Plan – Speaking of plans, successful entrepreneurs succeed in their particular field by making an in-depth business plan of what you are about to start. What is your target market? Do you need a brick-and-mortar store or will you work from home to begin with? How much will it cost every month for manufacture your product? What are your operational expenses going to be? Will you have any direct competition? These are some of the questions you have to answer when you are writing your business plan. Your business plan can be as professional or as personal as you want. My first business plan was 32 post-it notes with ideas that I had thrown in a tray on my dresser. I was in business for 4 months before I took those notes and put them in a professional format.
  • Manage Your Finances Wisely – If you already have a starting capital to begin your business, make sure you don’t make the mistake of overspending. Remember that you haven’t made a profit yet, so keep expenses at a minimum and concentrate your energy and resources on ways to effectively sell your products or services. Tracking your expenses is vitally important during the start-up phase of your business so that you know where your money is going and you can track your return on investment (ROI).
  • Always Put Your Customers First – When you begin in the entrepreneurship world, make sure that you value your customers and clients right off the bat. Address problems and attend to issues right away so your consumers will feel valued and important. Eventually, you will gain the trust of your initial customers, resulting in referrals which is a must for any startup business.

Understanding Your Competition

The most difficult aspect of entrepreneurship is competition, and it certainly does not help if you have chosen a niche where there are already several businesses which have established themselves in that particular field. In this situation, you may want to level the battlefield by using something out of the ordinary.

For instance, you can use technology to your advantage. Invest on the latest state-of-the-art equipment to impress your customers and make them choose you over your competitors. You can also go online and promote your business through social media. You will be surprised that a lot of your new customers actually discovered your business through these websites.

Beginning the life of an entrepreneur is a challenging one, but once you get the hang of it, you will certainly reap its rewards, and the possibilities are endless. In order to make your journey a lot easier, you better work with an individual who already has experience in handling such pressure.

Why Self-Disciplined People Are Bound For Success

Do you often ask yourself why you continue to struggle when achieving your goals? Have you tried everything you can think of to make your dreams come true to no avail? Are you starting to realize that you may be experiencing problems when it comes to your own self-discipline?

Self-discipline is your ability to regulate or correct yourself when you are trying to improve. For instance, a person who has strong self-discipline will wake up early in order to avoid coming in late for work. In spite their body’s plea to continue sleeping after staying up late the night before, they are strong enough to resist and fulfill their responsibilities.

Self-discipline is the result of a strong mind that does not fail to recognize what needs to be done. When they hold themselves to a higher standard in spite of situations that occur that will distract or derail them from reaching their goal. A person who has self-discipline will find it easier to reach success.

Why A Self-Disciplined Person Is Bound For Success

It is important to point out that you currently have some form of self-discipline. However the ‘strength’ of your discipline depends on a number of factors which would ultimately enable you to make tough decisions when it matters most.

Once you are able to exercise your self-discipline properly, you will find it easier to reach your goals. When you have strong self-discipline you:

  • Do not mind distractions – Distractions are oftentimes the reason why you fail to reach your dreams. Whether the situation is positive or negative, these distractions often force you to stop what you’re currently doing and focus on the ‘interesting’ or ‘important’ situation that is currently in front of you. However, if you are able to exercise your self-discipline properly, you will know whether a particular situation actually requires your attention or is just an obstacle for you to reach your goals faster.
  • Stick to the plan – You will stick to your plan and objectives no matter what. You will not take the easy route when facing difficulties or challenges that may be the path to least resistance. You have made the decision that you are a disciplined person who has carefully planned your goals and you will stick to what you believe is the best path to success.
  • Recover easily after a failure – A helpful quality that you possess as a disciplined individual is how you will to learn from mistakes and continue where you left off just before you stumbled. You know that lingering too much in the pain and misery caused by the mistake would only delay your plans. You are able to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, laugh about it, and push through the pain having learned a valuable life lesson from your mistake.
  • Push yourself beyond your limits – With strong self-discipline you will not stop with just one goal. You are a success-oriented individual who always looks for challenges which will test your skills and strengths. Because of this attitude, you are destined to accomplish more in life than a ‘regular’ person who does not strengthen their own self-discipline.

Developing Self-Discipline

Self-discipline is not something that can be developed overnight. It requires a strong mind and an even stronger will power to keep going in spite all of the obstacles, distractions, and challenges that you will face along the way. Most often than not, self-discipline is contagious and should be a welcome addition to your life.

Do you want to become a successful individual who is unfazed with distractions and does not take the “easy way out” who continues to push through any obstacle to reach your goals?

If you learn how to be self-disciplined in everything you do, from keeping your house clean, to eating healthy, and in your attitude towards personal development you will see dramatic changes in your life that will give you a sense of pride in who you are.

Life coaches are great support systems when learning to be more disciplined. I have successfully taught others how to fully understand and improve their current level of self-discipline. I continue to work with my current clients as they can improve their level of self-discipline to live the life that they have always dreamed of.

Startup Business Help – Improving Your Personal Brand

Promoting a particular brand is something that most businesses do in order to sell products or services. However, it is an entirely different thing if what you are promoting is yourself as a professional or a service provider. And because you are on your own, every step you make should be precise because mistakes made will affect your personal brand image in the long run.

Building up your personal brand requires similar steps to usual marketing, but needs more planning and thought. This is because what you’re actually selling to your target market is yourself, including your credentials, skills and whatever it is that you can do for your clients.

Where To Begin

Building up your personal brand may look like an easy campaign on the surface, but you will need to consider a few important factors and steps in order to capitalize on this strategy and reap the rewards later on.

Here are some things where you can start off when it comes to branding yourself:

  • Know What You Can Do – In order to begin an effective branding campaign for yourself, you need to know first what you can do as a professional or specialist. Be true to yourself and never assume that you can take on responsibilities which you haven’t done in the past. Even if you only have a few core skills, you are confident that you can deliver the highest quality of service in those areas.
  • Establish A Personal Network – No matter how grand your plan is in building your personal campaign, it may not be enough to just pitch your profile to people who do not know you. This is why you need to connect to as many of your acquaintances, friends, former colleagues and relatives as possible. Within this circle you will eventually get more leads for potential clients in the future.
  • Engage in Social Media – Social media is the key in order to get as much exposure as possible in your chosen niche or expertise. There are a number of social media websites where you can build up your personal brand by sharing relevant information, providing tips, and answering questions from other social media users. Once you have been proven to be a friendly and approachable professional, you will slowly gain a small following for the services or assistance you provide.
  • Launch Your Own Website – Finally, you should be able to launch a website that is all about you. Include your best professional photo and a good-written biography to let people know more about you and your skillset even before they actually call you. If applicable, include a testimonial page to show how you have worked with other individuals in the past and helped them. Connect your website to your social media accounts so people will be assured that you actually exist.

Improving Your Personal Brand

If you have recently decided to that you would like to venture into your home based business and want to leave your day job, then it is time that you improve your personal brand by strengthening your connections and use social media. Unlike working within a company, you are on your own in this project which means every decision you make will have a direct impact to your campaign.

Because of this, you may need to get professional help and advice from someone who has already done this in the past and is continuing to build up his personal brand. In this particular type of promotion, hands-on experience is crucial in order to provide you steps which actually work.

My best advice is to not outsource your social media campaign. Always make sure that your personal brand is believable and sincere. It will come through on your campaign. If different people are posting on your social media sites, then different writing styles and beliefs will come through and it will confuse your followers because they cannot identify your personal brand as easily.

When I started, I began with my website, www, After that I slowly began starting other social platforms to get begin building my personal brand. I started slowly and now I have my routines down so that I can show the “real me” on Twitter, LinkedIn, and my blog by posting content daily or weekly. Always remember the 80/20 rule. 80% of your content is about your industry and how you can inform others, and 20% is about marketing yourself.

Startup Business Help – Outsourcing To Improve Efficiency

Have you just started running your own business, and you’re already finding it difficult to finish everything that needs to be done? Do you need help on the operational part of your business while you deal with your core competencies? If this is the case, outsourcing may be for you.

In its simplest sense, outsourcing is letting others outside of your business or company work on a particular assignment. For instance, an auto manufacturer can let an advertising agency deal with the marketing aspect of the business while it focuses on actual auto assembly. In the same way, a processed food producer can deal with a shipping company to deliver its goods to the market. Outsourcing lets a business work more efficiently because that particular company will become more focused in its core competency, service or product.

However, during the past decade, the emergence of the Internet has become a crucial point in forging connections not only with professionals within the country, but even overseas. Now, outsourcing can be done not only with companies in your neighborhood or city, but even across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean.

What To Outsource

If you are planning to use this feature to make your workplace more efficient in your day-to-day operations, then you better figure out first which tasks should you outsource.

  • Tasks Requiring Specialized Knowledge – There are certain tasks which require a college degree and hands-on experience in that particular field. Common tasks which fall under this category include IT support, website design. Professional editing, systems and networks, etc.
  • Repetitive Tasks – Responsibilities which require day-to-day commitment may also be eligible for outsourcing. Payroll management, data entry, human resources responsibilities, call center, etc. are some of these tasks. You can assign these tasks to an agency that specializes in such assignments, thus giving you more time to concentrate on what you do best.
  • Highly Skilled Professional Or Executive Tasks – There may be situations where you will need a financial analyst or legal counsel to lend you a hand. In highly specialized fields of expertise such as finance and legal issues, you can get the services of an expert to help you.

What Not To Outsource

Now that you know which tasks you should outsource, it’s time to consider the ones you should retain. Making a distinction between the two is very important so that you can still control the processes which actually pertain to your company’s core services or products.

  • Actual Product Or Service – If your business is making quality furniture, then make sure you have total control for the actual production of your products. Outsourcing your core competency often results in lackluster performance, which leads to unsatisfied customers.
  • Tasks Which Directly Include You – There are certain responsibilities that only you as the company owner can do. You should not outsource tasks that deal with building potential business partners, creating business plans, final decisions on hiring, final decision oncreating policies and procedures, etc.

Outsourcing To Improve Efficiency

Outsourcing has really gone a long way. Now you can outsource tasks and other responsibilities to companies thousands of miles away from your office. The good thing about this is once you need to give specific instructions to them, you can easily voice out these concerns through a ‘virtual’ board meeting where you can see your employees through Internet connection.

However, outsourcing also has its drawbacks, and one of these is you won’t have full control of the department you outsourced. You also need to consider that most business process outsourcing companies you may work with are in a different time zone, so most often than not, you may not be able to monitor how they work. Of course, if you are willing to overlook these minor problems, outsourcing can definitely help expand your business in no time.

Popular outsourcing websites that many new entrepreneurs use are Elance, Freelancer, Guru and Fiverr.

Always check the feedback and ratings of an outsourcing worker before you hire someone. A good rule of thumb is that they have at least a 4 star rating and have completed over 25 jobs.  Asking for a sample of their work is a good way to see an example of what they have done.  Many reputable applicants will have a portfolio or customer reviews for you to see before hiring them.  When you are posting a project or job, be as specific as possible in your description.

Startup Business Help – Success Through Social Media

With the help of the Internet, social media is now at its peak and through this it takes only a few ‘shares’ and ‘likes’ for a particular topic to become popular. But do you know you can also use social media for startup business help?

Social media plays a key role nowadays in terms of disseminating information not only to the public, but to all netizens around the globe. Can you imagine the publicity your business would get once your company gets enough social media exposure? This is what experts call social media marketing.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is a form of Internet-based marketing that involves social media websites and platforms in order to achieve marketing goals. In this particular marketing technique, sharing content such as videos, images or written content is crucial in order to increase the brand awareness of your business or company.

There are a number of ways on how to use social media for the promotion of your business:

  • Content – The key to achieving success in social media marketing is realizing the fact that what you will be sharing through social media platforms should be something informative and not just fluff. The Internet already offers a vast amount of information so make sure your content is something that they will actually find interesting if not useful.
  • Develop Your Brand Image – In social media marketing, it is important that you maintain a consistent stand on what you are as a business and what you offer. A stable and strong branding will lure in customers because they see your company as an expert in that particular field or industry.
  • Linking – It helps from time to time that you provide links to your audience to informative resources even if that content did not come from you. It only means that you value your audience and want them to know more about a particular topic or issue that is related to your field of expertise.

Beginning Your Social Media Campaign

If you have decided that you need social media marketing in order to increase your business’ brand awareness and be seen as an expert in your field, you should first consider these questions:

What are my goals?

Before kicking off your social media campaign, you need to have a concrete plan on what you want to achieve. Do you only want more people to know that your business exists or do you want them to take action and consult you?

Who is your target audience?

Who will be your audience? If your business is about providing a particular service, then you have to pinpoint which individuals would want to avail your services. Then, you’ll have to make them realize through your content that they need you.

Do I have a time frame?

Social media marketing can be a very tiresome and repetitive task. Most of the time, you’ll need someone who has specialized in doing that particular work so you can focus on your business’ core competencies. However, it may require some time before you begin to reap the rewards. That is why you have to know how long you are going to use social media for marketing and to increase brand awareness.

Social Media Marketing Is Best For Startup Companies

Establishing a new business requires a lot of hard work especially on the promotion side. Before you go producing whatever it is you want to sell, you should first promote your business to actually get customers.

Fortunately, you won’t have to do it the old-fashioned way as social media marketing makes it easier for you to get an audience and gain Internet exposure through social media platforms. Just make sure that you plan the campaign thoroughly. Get advice from people in the industry or work with an expert in the field for better results.

When first starting out, I recommend using only one platform so that you can get comfortable and get the mistakes out of the way early. Choosing either Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or your own blog is a good start. Always use the 80/20 rule. 80% of your posts should be information given freely about your product, service, or industry and 20% of your posts should be about your brand and your business.
